Concerts and Events at Langley
Enjoy unforgettable experiences in timeless spaces
A Sunday afternoon concert in the 1873 Lauriston Chapel.
Combining the unique character of Langley Estate with the owners’ 30-year international experience as touring solo musicians, Langley is also a magnificent performing arts venue.
Concert rooms, including the historic 1873 Lauriston Chapel complete with a magnificent pipe organ and concert grand piano, give the ‘Langley Magic’ to a wide variety of cultural events throughout the year.
2021 marked the formal beginning of a new era at Langley, when the Lauriston Chapel was launched as a concert venue. Since then, the yearly seasons at Langley continue to feature artists from around the world, with greatly varied programs, all suited to the intimate ambience of the historic chapel. The ‘meet the performers’ post-concert refreshments in the Langley Hall mansion have become an integral part of the series.
From classical chamber music concerts, solo pipe organ concerts, jazz evenings, solo song recitals, piano recitals and choral concerts to art exhibitions, open gardens and special events such as champagne, or food and wine, tastings, Langley will have something for you to enjoy as an audience member or participate in as a connoisseur!
Please contact Simone for further details about forthcoming concerts. We look forward to welcoming you soon!

Paul Grabowsky – Solo
As we welcome Paul Grabowsky AO to Bendigo and to Langley Estate, it is difficult to describe his career easily!
He has been a director of some of Australia’s most prominent arts festivals, the composer of nearly thirty feature film scores, and several works of music theatre, the founder and leader for nineteen years of the Australian Art Orchestra, an executive at the ABC, and he currently heads up Monash University Performing Arts Centres.
Whether as composer, teacher, television personality, mentor or advocate for the role of artistic expression as a defining attribute of contemporary life, for him this is all informed by his work as a pianist and composer, particularly in the field of jazz where, according to him: ‘the piano never lies’.
His musical journeys have resulted in collaborations with musicians from many countries, not least with the First Nations peoples of Australia, and those journeys continue.
Among his many awards are eight ARIA Awards, the Melbourne Prize for Music and an H.C. Coombs Fellowship. In recognition of his achievements, he was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2014.
Paul Grabowsky’s solo performances reprise much of the music recorded on his album Solo (ABC). The music, mainly composed by the pianist, explores ideas that have interested him for decades: harmonic ambiguity and simultaneous tempi, often explored within the framework of songs without words, melodic, whimsical and memorable. He also often includes songs that refer to the canon of great jazz composers (Ellington, Monk) and masters of the American (and occasionally English) popular songbook.
After the concert, you can enjoy meeting Paul and other audience members during the refreshments served in the Langley Hall mansion.

Thomas Heywood
The launch of the newly-installed
1875 George ‘Grandfather’ Fincham Pipe Organ
Limited Tickets Now Available for
Sunday 30 March 2025
By popular demand, Thomas and Simone Heywood are delighted to announce the repeat performance of the opening solo concert on the 1875 George 'Grandfather' Fincham Pipe Organ, newly installed in the 1873 Lauriston Chapel at Langley Estate, on Sunday 30 March 2025.
Built in Melbourne 150 years ago for the grand ballroom of 'Findon' in Kew - the mansion owned by the legendary 19th-century Australian banker and politician, the Hon. Henry 'Money' Miller, the instrument was never installed in Miller's mansion and, instead, remained in Fincham's Richmond organ factory as an exhibition instrument where it was regularly demonstrated and used for practice by a teenaged Dame Nellie Melba, who was having organ lessons at the time!
150 years later, the instrument has been restored and enhanced by Daniel Bittner and his team at Australian Pipe Organs in Melbourne, and this magnificent pipe organ now sounds as good as it looks!
And the spectacular gold on the facade pipes is returning home as, believe it or not, the gold leaf sourced in 1875 came from the Bendigo goldfields!
Although Sunday 23 March has sold out, you can join us at Langley for the repeat performance of this memorable occasion one week later on Sunday 30 March as Thomas, 'without argument one of the world's best concert organists', showcases both the beauty and grandeur of this spectacular instrument in the Lauriston Chapel.
After the concert, you can also enjoy the usual post-concert refreshments served in the Langley Hall mansion.
